Summary:
Manages all material control activities at the Plant, including scheduling, customer service and shipping/receiving, inventory management, lean manufacturing and pull systems. Acts as part of the operational review team for the Plant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for day-to-day activities in the material control group, including staff supervision of customer service, vendor relations and scheduling staff, and shipping and receiving staff.
2. Manages activities to insure that inventories are kept at a minimum acceptable level and that production schedules facilitate least total cost manufacturing for the Plant.
3. Ensures that customer delivery ratings are at acceptable levels.
4. Works toward implementing lean manufacturing systems with emphasis on pull systems from linking the customer to the suppliers.
5. Acts as part of the operational review team for the Plant, reviewing key measures and suggesting improvements to operations as appropriate.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelors Degree required.
2. Minimum of 5 years related material control experience required.
3. Bachelors Degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or Materials Management preferred.
4. Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
5. Experience implementing MRP/ERP systems, preferably with several different providers.
6. Some formal work experience required with pull systems.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Strong team leadership skills required.
2. Strong systems experience and ability to implement systems and coordinate complex projects.
3. Ability to reduce inventory and improve turns.
4. Need to be able to conduct training at all levels of the organization.
5. Strong writing and documentation skills needed.
6. Good problem solving skills.
7. Good negotiating skills for working with customers and suppliers on working out order/deliver issues.
8. Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
